Monica Streifer

Monica received her Ph.D. in 2016 upon filing her dissertation, entitled The Body Politic on Stage: Women Writers and Gender in Twentieth-Century Italian Theater. Her research interests include modern and contemporary Italian literature, theater, and cinema; Renaissance and Baroque drama; feminist theory; and performance studies. While at UCLA, Monica has worked as a Teaching Associate, Dissertation Year Fellow, and Graduate Research Mentorship Fellow. She has also served as a Co-Editor–in–Chief of Carte Italiane, and as the President of the Humanities Council of UCLA’s Graduate Student Association.

Monica earned the degrees of C.Phil (2014) and M.A. (2011) in Italian Literature from UCLA. She is an alumna of Scripps College in Claremont, CA, where she graduated with a B.A. magna cum laude in European Studies and a Minor in Foreign Languages, with emphases in Italian and French.

Monica currently teaches Italian at the University of California, Riverside.
