May 14, 2014
The 2014 Italian Department Graduating Majors Capstone conference, which was followed by a Q&A and a reception for all attendees, was a big success. Faculty and graduate students were in attendance and took part in the discussion. There were 12 presentations (including multimedia and one in video format from Bologna), on a variety of interesting topics, periods and interdisciplinary themes related to Italian culture, ranging from Boccaccio and Medieval women to contemporary trends in tourism in Bologna. Disciplinary areas included literary studies, biographical and archival studies, Renaissance studies, art history, religious history, gender studies, contemporary social studies and linguistics.
Many thanks to all who helped facilitate this event and congratulations to all graduating majors!
