Ornella Spano, Ph.D. University of Cagliari 2010, is a Lecturer in Italian Studies appointed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her research interests focus on contemporary Italian poetry and fiction. Other areas of research include ecocriticism, translation studies and comparative literature. She has published mainly on Antonia Pozzi, a contemporary Italian poet.
She studied at the University of Cagliari where she received two Master’s Degrees, both with honors: a ‘Laurea’ in Foreign Languages and Literature (English and German) and a ‘Laurea’ in Lettere (Master in Liberal Arts).
She completed her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature with a dissertation on Antonia Pozzi.
Before joining the UCLA faculty in 2015, she worked as a permanent teacher in various Italian high schools.
