Marianna Nespoli is a second-year Ph.D. candidate whose research interests primarily focus on Modern and Contemporary Italian Literature and Cinema with an emphasis on the cinematic collaborations of poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra with world renowned directors such as Antonioni, Fellini, Tarkovsky, etc.
Marianna attended the UCLA Program in Experimental Critical Theory on “Philosophy, Art, and Politics.“
A Valedictorian from Pasadena City College, she continued her studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Occidental College in 2014 with a B.A. in English and Comparative Literary Studies with an Emphasis in Creative Writing.
Marianna was born and raised in the countryside of Bologna, Italy. Besides her native language and English, she also speaks Spanish and French.
