Heather Sottong (Ph.D. University of California, Los Angeles) is a Lecturer in the Department of Italian at UCLA. She is currently teaching Italian 42C: Food and Literature in Italy. Her research interests include Renaissance theater and the literary appropriation of Dante in the Americas.
In addition to Italian, Heather also knows German, French, and Spanish. While at UCLA she has taught Elementary German, been a T.A. for a film course entitled “Hollywood and Germany,” and worked as a Research Assistant for the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. From 2012-2014 she was a Graduate Student Instructor for the GE30 Cluster Course, “Never-ending Stories: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Myth.” In conjunction with the mythology cluster, she developed and taught a seminar on Dante’s Inferno, offered spring quarter of 2013 and 2014.
